You learned most of the words you know by meeting them in context, again and again, inside things you cared about. Not from lists. It works best when you understand almost everything and only a few words are new.
The trouble for a beginner is that real books in another language are far too hard, and beginner readers are far too dull. Plotlingo sits in between. Every story starts in English, and the language you're learning takes over gradually — single words first, then short phrases, then whole sentences — only as fast as you can follow.
Why it reads well
Every book is a real story first: unabridged classics by writers like Conan Doyle, Stevenson, Saki, O. Henry and Poe, and originals written for Plotlingo. We translate each story phrase by phrase, so every mixed sentence reads naturally, whether it has one Spanish word, a Spanish phrase, or is all Spanish.
Once you've met a word, it stays in Spanish every time it comes up, so you see it again and again. A short review brings back the words you're about to forget.
